HEATSTORE – Subsurface heat storage

The dataset comprises geological, hydrogeological and modelled data related to subsurface heat storage. The data were produced within the HEATSTORE project, a European research project focusing on Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES) and high-temperature subsurface heat storage. The dataset includes results from demonstration sites, including seasonal heat storage in aquifers and reservoirs, as well as analyses of thermal, hydraulic and geochemical processes. Data have been used to evaluate the potential for large-scale heat storage in relation to district heating systems and other flexible energy solutions.

Beskrivelse

The dataset has been developed through integration and processing of geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data from demonstration sites within the HEATSTORE project. The data basis includes well data, temperature measurements, pumping tests and geophysical investigations, which have been used for numerical modelling of heat injection and subsurface heat storage. Data have been quality assured through the project’s cross-institutional collaboration and used to assess storage efficiency, thermal impacts, hydraulic conditions, geochemical processes and long-term performance of underground thermal energy storage systems.
